Never, Ever, Ever...

Today I am linking up with the NEVER, EVER, EVER trend for the very first time. I'm sure you have all either seen it, or have taken part in it. It is hosted by three lovely ladies, Neely, Shelley, & Stephanie. If I seem like a crazy lady & you have no idea what I am talking about, you've been living under a rock, you can find the link up here or by visiting any of the ladies above.

So here are a few of my never, ever, evers... Eeek! This is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

I never, ever, ever...
  • will stop talking to my furbabies like they are actual babies.
  • will be too grown up to enjoy a Disney movie.
    {Mr. B laughed at me when he came home to me watching Mulan on Netflix the other day. Don't judge me, punk!}
  • will not cry at the end of the movies, The Notebook & What Dreams May Come.
  • will stop using the ampersand (&) symbol. I'm obsessed.
  • will be able to drink coffee black. I don't know how Mr. B does it!
  • will stop leaving Mr. B love notes, in his lunch bag, on the mirror, taped to his computer.
  • will stop being homesick for good ol' southern California.
  • won't be afraid of what is in the dark.
  • want to stop learning or expanding my mind in some way.
  • will allow someone to use me as a doormat again. Been there, done that.
  • will stop trying to be the best person I can possibly be. Not only for me, but for my future husband & family as well.

So it's your turn now! What are your never, ever, evers?

I'm craving, YARN!

Okay, seriously guys. There is some amazingly beautiful yarn on the interwebs. What a freaking tragedy it is that I am poor & can't afford any of it! I seriously need to find a supplier or shop that will let me review their yarn on this here blog. That way I can crochet until my heart is content & share the step by steps of the patterns I find.

I mean how beautiful is this Orchid inspired yarn by FiberCurio on Esty? Oh, isn't it just lovely!?!? It's almost too pretty to use. Or how about this Sugar Plum hand died yarn by Wondering Wool? There are just way too many beautiful yarns out there, I could spend all day adding them to my "Yarn Love" folder on Pinterest.

I'm thinking of blogging tutorials on the few crochet things I have learned myself. Complete with pictures. I know a few friends of mine, might just be interested in the good ol' step by steps. Plus I would enjoy showing off the few things I have come to figure out through various blogs, & crocheter friends on YouTube.

I half jokingly told Mr. B that I should offer to crochet baby blankets for people for the cost of the yarn & shipping. I really do enjoy crocheting for others, more than myself. Plus it would give me the opportunity to work with yarn weights & colors I wouldn't normally work with. Ah, it would be great if it worked that way. lol.

My favorite yarn so far has got to be Caron One Pound, it just is so easy to work with. I really wish that the retailers in my area would carry more of their colors. I really want to work with their Peach, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I might just have to bite the bullet & purchase it directly from them. I just hate paying full price for yarn, plus I like to look at the color in real life. Computers can be tricky when it comes to showing the true coloring of the yarn.

Are you a knitter or crocheter? How about both? What has been your favorite yarn to work with?

My Life Five Years From Now {52 Weeks of Blogging with a Purpose}

Time for another blog with a purpose, with thanks to From Mrs. to Momma for the amazing prompts & link ups. If you still don't know what I am talking about from my previous two posts, here & here. You can find the whole list & the meaning behind the link up here. I'm playing catch up this week in hopes of being right on track next week. :)

This weeks prompt: My life five years from now.

Now of course I have no idea as to what the future holds for me within the next five years. But I can tell you where I hope to be. Where I want to see myself. I see myself married to that man who stole my heart almost four & a half years ago. At least we better be married because by then we will be looking at almost a decade together.

I see some of our debt paid off. Enough to where we will be able to live a little more comfortably than we are now. Of course by then, or even before, we will be looking at a new car which will in turn be a new debt to take place of old debt. But, I digress. I hope to see some household projects being started. A new backyard fence. An even bigger garden. A place for Mr. B to safely work on & park his motorcycle.

One of the biggest hopes is for a not so furry child. I love my furbabies, but I feel the strong need to be a mommy. I have great hopes for this to come to fruition. Many have said that I would be a good mother & I know in my heart that Mr. B would make a fantastic father. Babies love him. Everywhere we go, a doe-eyed baby is watching him, while drooling & tugging on their little toes. He doesn't think I notice... but I do. This is my greatest hope of all.

I see our relationship blossoming into even more depth as time passes & we grow more assured that we are exactly where we want to be. My home is where he is. Be it in our little city row home or a grand cabin in the woods, my love stays unchanged. Though hitting the bit lottery jackpot would help a great deal. Like the image circulating Facebook says... "I've got 99 problems & money could solve at least 73 of them." I find quite a lot of truth in that. lol.

Overall, in five years I would like to see ourselves as a happy little family, living life one day at a time, like the rest of the world.

She's doing it again...

That's right. I am doing it again. Sunshine&Rain will soon be getting a new name & design...

Now, wait. Hear me out before you all start screaming at me. This I have decided, will be my third & final change. My reasoning behind this is very simple. A quick Google check of "Sunshine and Rain Blog" comes up with many entries. Many of which are not my own. It is not unique, it is not original, & in all fairness it is not mine.

For the past few days I have been pondering name after name, trying to find one that not only suits me, but is as original as possible in this not so original world. Something simple, yet truthful. And, I believe the one constant in my writing, no matter what the topic may be, is my sincerity. Which is why I feel greatly drawn to the name, Swear by Sincerity. That is my one constant, the one thing I hold myself accountable to above all else. To remain sincere in not only my writings & reviews, but my life as well, has been my goal all along.

I do hope you will understand why this change will be taking place. For now nothing on your end should be affected. The link to my blog shall remain the same, until I find the courage to buy the domain name.The only thing that should change is my RSS feed, when it is updated to the new name. I am also considering joining Mail Chimp for my email subscribers. If I do indeed make these changes, I will post an announcement here on the blog. In the meantime, if you follow through GFC or Bloglovin', you will not be affected at all. I should appear in your feed the same as I did before, just under my new & more fitting name.

These changes will be taking place over the next few weeks. Thank you all for understanding & I do hope you will stick around!

Humid Lazy Days + Blogiversary Giveaway Winner!

It has seriously been way too humid for this Cali girl. I can handle 90 degree days, maybe even 100 degree days back home. But here in Pennsylvania, 85 degrees is pushing it most days. All you can really do is sit very still in front of the fan & hope that a thunderstorm blows through & lowers the humidity a tad. That, or keep the air conditioning on for nearly three days in a row...

Yeah, we did that. Which is why I am now sitting in front of the fan trying not to move. The electric company is making bank this summer & it has only just started! I'm looking forward to camping in the fall. So summer, if it isn't too much trouble, let's have an early & long autumn, yes? Dream big right?

In spite of this horrible humidity, I have found myself once again being bitten by the crochet bug. It feels too dang hot to deal with yarn, but I am inspired & intent on finishing my largest granny square blanket by the autumn. I ran out of yarn this morning, which means when Mr. B has off this weekend we need to make a Walmart run. Sunday, arrive faster... please!

Speaking of getting bitten... There is a certain love hate relationship going on in my home at the moment. Mosquitoes love me & I hate them. The other evening, while watering my garden I was bitten eight times. Yes, eight. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't allergic to them. Which is what I must be because the bites last for days & swell up larger then they should. This last session of love bites caused my right hand to swell up quite a bit. It also left my entire hand, fingers, palm & all itching day & night for the past three days. I tried all the old wives tales on what stops them from itching & absolutely nothing worked. Alcohol, Listerine, Baking Soda, Calamine, Lotion, Aloe Vera, Toothpaste... nothing. But then we went to the store & bought a bottle of Benadryl Gel. Good lord, sweet relief! After one evening of coatings the redness & swelling went down & it took the itching away with it. I'll swear by this stuff, & might even have to buy stock in it with how aggressive the mosquitoes are this year.

Any who, I bet you are all wondering who won that pretty nifty giveaway I had this month to celebrate my blogs birthday. Well wait no longer!

*Drum roll please!*

The winner is, Natalie H!

Woo! Congrats Natalie, thank you so much for entering!

And thank you so much to the awesome bloggers & shops that helped make my blogs birthday awesome!

Don't be too bummed if you didn't win this round. I'm always looking for new fun Giveaways. In fact, if you come back around tomorrow morning, you can check out an awesome giveaway I am taking part in! *Hint* The prize is from SEPHORA! Awesome right? So, I do hope you'll stick around.

10 Things I Live For. {52 Weeks of Blogging with a Purpose}

Just in case you didn't see Tuesday's post, today I am playing a little catch up on Mrs. Becky's {From Mrs. to Momma} blog challenge titled 52 weeks of Blogging with a Purpose. Because I am a couple weeks behind, I will be posting two a week until I catch up next week & then I will continue in the normal one a week fashion. This is my toe in the water attempt at a blog challenge. I do not feel that I can complete a full 30 day blogging challenge at present, but I am greatly encouraged to do this 52 week blogging challenge since it is only one per week. Even I can do that... I think. Anyway, if you have no clue as to what I am blabbing about, be sure to check out the list of purposeful blog topics here. But y'all come back now, ya hear? ;)

The topic I am tackling today...

10 things I wouldn't want to live without.

My relationship with Mr. B. This man means the world to me. Though we have yet to walk down that aisle & say our "I Do's" I honestly feel as if we are already married. We've been together for over four years, & we have been living together for most of it. A piece of paper deeming us as husband & wife won't make any difference in our relationship. We're already there. We've grown as a couple through our fights, we've grieved over loss together, & we have learned to never take one another for granted. I have no doubt in my mind that he is my soulmate. And though, our age differences might make things a little more difficult at times. I know I have met my match. He's my lobster. ;)

My crazy, wacky & oh so loving Family. I can't even explain how thankful I am that we have the technology today to be able to share our lives across the miles. It's so hard to be so far away from them. I think of them everyday & wish that I could afford for Mr. B & I to move across the nearly 3,000 miles & be able to see them for holidays, birthdays & general get togethers. It has been nearly a year since I last saw them & I look forward to my next visit. Whenever that may be.

Sending love across the miles to my Dad Rich, my amazing Stepmother Gina, my little Brother Ryan, my Grandmother Lynda, my Grandfather Michael, my Aunt Shannon, my Uncle Ken & my new little baby Cousin Jon Michael!

My Furbabies. What more can I possibly say. They are my babies & I love them with all of my heart. They bring so much love, peace & affection into my home. I honestly don't want to imagine what it would be like without them. They are amazing & they need to stop growing up so dang fast!

Gardening. I love it. I don't love the sweating & hard work of pulling all those darn weeds out. But I love being able to grow some of my own food. There is nothing better than the taste of a homegrown tomato. You never want to buy a store one again. Bell Peppers too. I hate buying them in the store, they taste terrible & bland now that I grow my own. I need a green house so I can grow them all year long!

Photography. The photo bug has bitten me bad. I've actually heard people talk about me while getting certain shots. It makes me laugh. People were wondering what the heck I was doing when I took this shot at a local lake. The tree had beautiful blooms, it's not my fault that they didn't appreciate them while they could. Spring & it's blossoms don't last nearly long enough.

Food. Come on, you knew it was coming. Even though I am trying so very hard to slim down. I still love me some food. Lately, my homemade pizza has been a huge hit here at home. Not only does it taste freaking fantastic. I can control what is on it & it keeps us from ordering in or eating out. Totally budget friendly & better on your waistline too if you are careful with the toppings. :) I love to cook & always will.

Crochet. Love, love, love it! Seriously, I am obsessed. I have tons of patterns bookmarked for future use. Though I do get pretty ADD & start a million projects for every one I finish. I enjoy it anyway. I always have some project ready to pick up with the mood strikes. Lately it has been way too hot to even think about crocheting. But I'm working on a blanket for my baby cousin's birthday in August, so I better get movin' on it!

Technology. I don't think I could handle not having some sort of techie device to play with. I love working on my computer, figuring out how to set up new networks or devices, or just generally enjoying the features technology has to offer. Though, sometimes when nothing seems to want to work right. Which happens all at once usually. I want to throw everything away & go live in a cave. lol.

Netflix. Okay, technically this could be part of technology. However, Netflix is the main source of entertainment in my home since we do not have cable. Let me tell you, I love our little $7.99 a month subscription. I have watched hours of movies & shows I never had the chance to watch while they were new. Plus they are adding new ones all the time. I think I have close to 500 titles in my queue right now. I swear I add three to every one I watch. lol. Without Netflix, I would die of boredom I am sure.

Autumn. Autumn in Pennsylvania is purely amazing. When it's not raining or windy as all heck. There is only a week or so window of beauty before it turns to ugly icky winter. I love how the leaves change color. Growing up in Southern California I never experienced a true Autumn. Back then the leaves would be green one day & then the trees were bald when you woke up the next morning. Here you see a mix of yellows, reds & browns that is truly amazing. It's my favorite time of year & always will be. If only we could make it last a few months longer. That would be awesome! I'm so excited for this fall, Mr. B & I are planning a camping trip! ♥

How does your garden grow?

Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope you all have a safe & wonderful Independence day! Mr. B works today, so no fireworks for us. Boo! Of course we will hear them from inside our house. lol.

Any who, I do believe it is time for a garden update! Last week I pulled up my radishes. I couldn't wait. The suspense was killing me! I had never grown radishes before, nor have I ever tried a fresh homegrown radish. Oh my goodness, it was spicy & pure amazing! No joke.

I also had plucked my first Garden Salsa Hot pepper. Though, I didn't eat it fast enough & it got soft before I even had the chance to eat it. Boo!

But that's okay, there are many more growing right this minute. Just waiting to be picked & eaten. There is just something so awesome about growing your own food.

If you never have grown something in your backyard or on your patio, you should give it a shot! Tomatoes are pretty easy to grow, I would start there.

So how is my garden doing? Well pictures are worth 1000 words, so I will let them speak for themselves. :)

Sweet 100 Cherry Tomatoes.
Yellow Pear Tomatoes.
Garden Salsa Hot Peppers.
All that is Zucchini. Yum! {We have six planted this year.}
Giant Marconi Pepper {That's really what it's called}. The thing is freaking huge!
Basil growing at the base of my Tomato plants. Last years plant seeded itself, apparently. lol.
Carrots... not ready yet. Soon, I hope!
My Hydrangea in bloom. I need to figure out how to turn it back to purple or blue. I don't like the pink so much.
My little urban garden, in my little city backyard. ♥
Have you been digging in your garden? What's growing for you? Anything ripe yet? I have about 10 Zucchini growing right now, I'm already tempted to pluck them. They are my favorite. :)

Happiness is...

Watching Odin & Apollo become friends. Something I never thought would happen. Apollo was so jumpy when we first brought him home. He had dogs try to eat him in a previous home. Before he came to live with us. Because of that he was so weary of Odin. That & the fact Odin is clearly a tall, slobbering, clumsy, giant in Apollo's eyes. As time has progressed, they started to not only play together, but they started to bond. They could even tolerate sitting on opposite ends of the couch at times.

And then this happened...

Apollo jumped up & laid himself in between Odin & myself. He then started to purr & knead into Odin's furry tail. Odin didn't mind & I quickly had to grab my camera before the magic faded.

This lasted for quite a while, just the three of us. Dog, Cat, & the food giver.♥

Who am I? {52 Weeks of Blogging with a Purpose}

Okay, so I am a few weeks behind in this amazing thought inspiring link up over at From Mrs. to Mama's blog. However, I don't think it will harm anything by me playing catch up. :) So the next few posts will be part of the 52 Weeks of Blogging with a Purpose. If you have yet to see this list, you can find it here.

Basically the oh-so-talented Becky over at From Mrs. to Mama created 52 weeks of blogging prompts with a purpose. It's a show & tell of sorts. The show would be a picture that goes with the theme & the tell would be elaborating on the meaning of the theme. In your own words.

Today's post is...

The obvious answer would be, I am Krys. I am 24 years old, & will be 25 in August. Which makes me a Leo, if you are into that sort of thing. Which of course, I am. Although I am a Leo to a tee most of the time, I can be quite sensitive & emotional as well. I care a lot about everything & everyone. Which has been my downfall in the past.

I enjoy making others happy. Not just because I am unselfish or selfless, but because I get great enjoyment from it. Some may call it co-dependency, I call it compassion.

I was born in Southern California. I moved around quite a bit. I moved across the country to Southeastern Pennsylvania a week or so after my 20th birthday. The change was quite dramatic. I am still not used to the cold snowy winters & the hot humid summers.

I am engaged to a wonderful man, Mr. B. He means everything to me. He changed my life & in many ways he saved me. But that is a story for a different time. He made a survivor out of me & taught me to stand up for myself & for what I believe in. I walk with my head a little higher now, which is an accomplishment all in itself.

I am passionate about many things, mostly animals. My furchildren mean the absolute world to me. They are a huge part of my life. If I had it my way, we would have a larger 'wolf' pack & I would be a crazy cat lady as well.

I am a woman born in the wrong time. I fully believe that a woman's place is in the home. Growing up, while all of my friends talked about being dancers, doctors, & marine biologists, I dreamed of being a wife & mother. I love to cook, bake, & care for my home, furchildren & Fiance. And someday in the near future, I hope to have a not so furry-child to add in the mix.

I might sound conservative. But I am actually not. I don't feel that my beliefs should keep you from yours. I  fully believe in marriage equality. I am pro-choice, but personally pro-life. Confused? That's okay. I believe in freedom of & from religion. I am spiritual, but I question the legitimacy of the bible. Yes, it is possible to have beliefs & faith without religion. And no, it does not make me a bad person.

On  lighter note, I consider myself quite crafty. I have taught myself how to knit & crochet. Sewing is next on the list! I also love to take photos with my Canon Rebel XS & play around a bit with Photoshop & Lightroom.  I enjoy camping & fishing with Mr. B. And I like to get a little dirty in the spring through fall planting in my garden.

So, that's a bit more about me... what about you? Are you participating in From Mrs. to Mama's 52 Week Challenge? If so, I would love to see your answers! :)
