Christmas Eve-Eve-Eve!

So, I've been missing this week. I have been really busy ignoring the internet almost completely. People have just been getting me down. So instead of letting the little things get to me, I decided to focus on the things that make me happy, my little family, baking cookies, decorating for Christmas, wrapping packages & making plans for the holidays.

Getting ready to make another batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies for tomorrow. James' family is coming over for a bit so that the girls {my future nieces} can open up their presents. I'm really excited to see them. We haven't seen them all together since before my birthday back in August. I'm mostly looking forward to seeing them open their gifts. :)

I am really proud of how much I accomplished for Christmas this year. Last year I had not even finished one crochet project the entire year. This year, I finished seven projects just as gifts, as well as four hats, a blanket & a scarf for myself. :) I need more yarn!

My family sent the Mister & I gifts from California. They are now all displayed under my pretty Christmas tree. I have NO idea what they are & it is driving me crazy. I can't wait to open them! :) My Grandma & Grandpa even sent gifts for our Furbabies. That always makes me giggle when I see Odin, Kora & Apollo written on a gift tag. My Grandma loves her fur-grandbabies. lol.

Do you have snow where you live? We haven't had any yet this year. I am really hoping for some white on the ground for Christmas. At first it seemed like it was not going to happen this year. But now it seems that we can be expecting up to three inches of snow on Christmas Eve! I would love that! :)

I watched a really awesome documentary on Netflix this morning. It's called "Craigslist Joe". It's about a guy named Joe, who sets out with just the clothes on his back, a cell phone & a laptop. His goal is to make it for an entire month with nothing but the kind hearts of the people on Craigslist. It really amazed me just how much help he had along the way & it really gave me a little more faith in humanity. I highly suggest you check it out if you are able to.

Well, I'm off to start another load of laundry & put another batch of cookies into the oven. If I am not back before then, I hope you all have a fantastic holiday!

I was going to post a blog today. I fully intended to write a blog about happy things & talk about how close to Christmas we are. But all of that seems very insignificant now.

My heart is heavy. Twenty children were lost today. They were ripped from their families. I'm not a mom {yet}, so I could only imagine the amount of heartache, pain & despair these families are going through. I cry for them all. I sob for the children who were taken in such a tragic & horrifying way. My heart goes out to all of the families, not only those whose homes & hearts are empty tonight, but those who have children that don't understand what happened. Shootings, no matter where they take place are sad, but this event was above & beyond horrible. These were innocent, young children who were barely starting on their life's journey.

Rest in peace young ones. Your life on this planet was cut so short & I am so sorry that you were torn from your families in such a horrific & terrifying way. I pray that the families are able to find peace & strength in each other.

Such a sad & scary world we live in.

Disney on Netflix, say what?

Yes, this past week Netflix announced that they have reached a deal with Disney to start streaming Disney/Pixar content by 2016. I'm completely psyched since, I was just talking to the mister about me wishing they would bring Disney to Netflix just this past month. They already have certain movies streaming as part of their deal, so I of course have spent the past few days reverting back to that child sitting in her pajamas with stars in her eyes as Pocahontas plays on the screen. The Brave Little Toaster too! So, if you were wondering where I disappeared to, that would be the answer to that question.

I also actually managed to finish all seven of my Crochet Christmas gifts! Hooray! I was on a roll this year & I can't wait to give them out. I'm really proud of what I was able to accomplish. I have come a long way, at least I think so, in this crocheting world. I look back on my first few projects & laugh because of how tremendously horrible they actually turned out compared to my new & improved projects. They are now wrapped up neatly under the tree, more than half of which need to be shipped out to California. The post office was out of Flat Rate boxes the last two times I have went, so I decided to just order a few online... now I have to wait for those to come in. If they don't make it here in time, I will just have to bite the bullet & use whatever box I can find & ship it a different way. These gifts WILL make it to California for Christmas, they just have to! :)

So the world ends in less than two weeks, supposedly. I have actually watched a lot of documentaries on the subject & I have come to the conclusion that although it might not be the "end of the world", it is most definitely an end of an era. A lot of things are lining up in our solar system & it's going to be interesting to see what truly happens, even if it's just a small change in our planetary lineup. I for one am hoping for some big life changing event, something I can tell my grandchildren about when I am old & grey... "The day the world changed." Who knows, it could very well happen! ;)

Tuesday's 10 Day YOU Challenge {7 wants}

So last week I skipped Tuesday's 10 Day YOU Challenge, whoops! No biggie, I will just post it today & move on along. :) I'm hoping to put together an actual blog really soon. I've just been so emotionally drained lately. But, that is another story... for now, let's get to today's 10 Day YOU Challenge...

My seven wants...

  • First the big one... I want to start a family with my Mister. I really wish it were as easily done, as said. We have quite a few obstacles in our way & sometimes I just feel like it's never going to happen for us. (I will be writing a blog more in detail about this later on.)
  • Paintable walls! Oh my goodness, some of the paneling in my house is straight up terrible! But if we are talking wishes & not just wants, I would settle for a nicer house, with a bigger back yard, FAR away from the city. *nods*
  • To be able to see my family more often. Living 3,000 miles away from them pretty much sucks.
  • For my Monster, Odin, to live a very LONG & healthy life. We just lost our old boy & the thought of losing another kills me. I can't believe he is going to be two years old in March! Where did the time go?
  • To get better with my creative outlets. Perhaps to start selling my crocheted items.
  • A good snow storm this winter... I want a good couple feet for Odin to go crazy in. Today it was nearly 70 degrees... what the heck Pennsylvania, why are you so bipolar?
  • I would like for myself & for those around me to be happy in everything they do in life, not matter what anyone says.
And that is all for now! I'll write again soon. :)

Sunday Social #3

Sunday Social
Happy Sunday everyone! It's time for another Sunday Social hosted by Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup.

This weeks questions are:

  1. What is your favorite holiday season tradition?
  2. Do you have a certain holiday movie that you watch more than others? If so, what is it?
  3. Show us your favorite decoration or Pinterest decoration you wish you could have.
  4. Favorite holiday song?
  5. Favorite holiday dessert?
  6. What is on your wish list this year?

Happy December!

Happy December everyone! Can you believe that we are in the last month of 2012, where-oh-where does the time go? I know, I have been hiding... But I have a very good reason behind it! I have been busy getting ready for the holidays! :) Now we all know that I have already decorated the inside of my house. But now, I have decorated the outside as well!

Did you know that you can make "Snow" paint for windows with just shampoo, cornstarch & water? Well you can! And I did! :D I think it came out just lovely don't you?

We don't have much of a front to our house, since we live in a row home. But I do my best to spruce it up for Christmas. :)

The bows in the front are hand made, by me! :D

This was too funny & too true, not to share!

So what else have I been up to, why CROCHETING of course. I've been trying my best to get all my crocheted gifts done by this week so I can mail them out. I've managed to complete five out of the seven gifts I have planned this year, so score!!!

I should keep you guessing, but I won't! So here is a peek inside the giftwrap! Shhh! Don't tell! ;)

A Green Bay Packers Hat for my baby cousin & scarves x 3! :)

Here is what I am working on now...

A tri-colored puff stitch scarf! I love how this is turning out, I am going to have to make myself one once I am finished! :) After I re-stock on yarn of course! :D

So what have you been up to? Are you getting ready for Christmas? Are you hand making any gifts this year?

Liebster Blog Award!

I have been nominated by Helen over at the Blue Eyed Beauty Blog for a Liebster Award! Thank you so much Helen, you are too awesome! To see her Liebster Award post, you can click, here.

What is a Liebster award? Well from what I understand, the origins of the award are fairly unknown & mysterious. What I do know is that the word, Liebster is German for "Dearest One". It is a term of endearment, so that can't be bad right! :)

In order to accept the award there are a few rules you must follow...

Dear Santa...

Hello everyone out there in blogger land. I hope you all had a terrific holiday. Ours was simple, & very low key. The Mister & I had Ham instead of Turkey since it was just the two of us. I made homemade mashed potatoes & green bean casserole. We spent almost the entire day relaxing & watching Weeds on Netflix. So glad I got him hooked on it. hehe. Today I continued on my Crochet for Christmas projects. Trying to make a scarf for all of the ladies in my family, we will see how it goes though since I must be the world's slowest crocheter. :)

 The mister went back to work this afternoon. We had & probably will never have the desire to run out on Black Friday & risk getting beaten up to save a few dollars on things we probably don't really need anyway. But it still got me thinking about what I want for Christmas. :) Have any of you put together your Christmas lists? I know, I know, good will towards men & peace on earth. ;) But what do you REALLY want?

So What Wednesday #3

I really can't believe just how fast time is flying! How in the world is is Wednesday already? Well since it is Wednesday, it is time for another So What Wednesday hosted by Shannon over at Life After I "Dew".

Tuesday's 10 Day YOU Challenge {8 fears}

Hello blogger world! It's Tuesday once again & that means it's time for the next section of the 10 Day YOU Challenge. Today we are down to number eight, eight fears. Why do I have a felling this topic is not the most popular among the rest? lol. I don't know about you, but to me, fears are fairly private... but, here we go!

Sushi, Free Stuff & Christmas.

So it's Saturday! Wow, how did that happen... better yet, how is it we are less than a week away from Thanksgiving?! My goodness, time flies. I had planned to post this blog yesterday, but the hours slipped away from me as they nearly made me miss the post today as well! So let us go ahead & link this up with the Weekend Blog Walk! :)

At Home Take 2

First things first, Thursday was Date Night & the Mister & I had a lovely evening out at Zhuang's Garden in Exeter, Pennsylvania. If you for any crazy reason happen to end up in Exeter, THIS is the place to go for Sushi! They also have Hibachi grills & Chinese food, but we went for the Sushi!

Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop

Today I am linking up with Katherine over at Katherine's Corner for her Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop. Thursday's favorite things is where you can post either your favorite post, or write a blog about your  current favorites to share with your followers. So... lets go!

So What Wednesday #2

So What Wednesday

Hello everyone, we've made it to another Wednesday! Once again I am linking up with Shannon over at Life After I "Dew" for SO WHAT! Wednesday. :)

Tuesday's 10 day YOU Challenge {9 Loves}

Hello! Happy Tuesday to you all. Today it is raining & cold. Well it's actually more like sleet out there at the moment. We had a few unseasonably warm days last week, but now it's back to what seems to be the start of Winter. Which, I don't really mind. The cold weather is perfect motivation for crocheting! :)

Today's post is the continuation of the 10 day YOU Challenge... Nine Loves.

Monday, already! {GFC & BLT HOP!}

Alright, so I've missed a couple posts last week. That's alright, I still did a pretty decent job of keeping up if you compare it to my usual blogging practices. I've just been getting so side tracked by the enormous amount of Giveaways swirling around blog land. I'm pretty darn obsessed now! At first I was just humoring myself, I'll enter just for fun... But after winning the Fashionista Birthday Bash & The FedEx Sweeps, I got down to business on all the different types of giveaways & sweeps I can enter. True, I'm mostly just dreaming of being able to win all these neat gadgets & giftcards, but hey, there is nothing wrong with that! :)

So, I thought that maybe I would share a few of the giveaways I am currently following:

Hello, Friday.

Sorry, no post yesterday, it was a fairly busy day with the Mister & the Furbabies. Plus, I was feeling a little bit under the weather. But, I'm feeling a bit better today though, hooray! And, I won a $25 gift card from FedEx for entering into their $1 Million Gift Card Giveaway. I was one out of 40,000 people to win a $25 giftcard, how exciting is that?!?!

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday
Happy hump day everyone, the week is halfway through! For today's post I am linking up with Shannon from Life After I "Dew" for her So what Wednesday...

Tuesday's 10 day YOU Challenge {10 Secrets}

First of all, I wanted to share that I actually won a giveaway! I couldn't be more excited about it. I won the Fashionista Bazaar's Birthday Bash Giveaway hosted by Kimberly over at A Night Owl Blog. I will be doing a whole blog on that once the prizes arrive in the mail, that way I can show you all the nifty new stuff I won. In the meantime I'm still entering daily for about twenty other giveaways, perhaps I will share a few of those with you later on as well... Or you can just follow my twitter! :)

So today's post is called the 10 Day YOU Challenge, for the obvious reasons. It's a post everyday, for ten days, about you! What a great way to get to know each other right? Since I am already late to the link game, I think instead of doing it for ten days in a row, I am going to break it up & do one every Tuesday. That way there is room in the week for other posts. So here we go...

Manic Monday

Happy Monday everyone! Today's post is a Manic Monday post brought to you by Vicki from Live in my Heart, & her co-hosts Heather from Simply Heather, Terri from Rambling Momma, & Heather from Terrell Family Fun.

Sunday Social

Since I am terrible at this blogging deal without some sort of inspiration &/or deadline, I decided I would join in on Sunday Social which is hosted by Neely at A Complete Waste Of Makeup.

This weeks questions are:

What is currently on your wish list?
Share a new iPhone, iPad, Droid app you have discovered that we all need.
What is a new Fall TV Show you are looking forward to, or have added to your DVR?
Share your social media links for us to follow. Which is your favorite & why?
What is a TV show, Movie, or Song you could listen to or watch over & over & over & never get tired of it? {Feel free to name one of each.}

I'm going to be revamping & updating my blog soon... stay tuned!

LB #2: "Updates, Weight-loss, & Excitement."

Time for another blog. It's been a few weeks, time is flying like always!

First things first, Apollo is adjusting quite nicely. Him & Kora have worked out their differences & have since been spotted cuddling in the sunlight from the upstairs window. Next step, getting along with the dogs... that one may take a while! In the meantime, he loves to sit in the kitchen window & watch the birds dancing around my garden. Such a handsome boy he is! I adore my furbabies! Odin now knows how to swim. He's really smart & he taught himself how to fetch, now we throw the stick further into the lake & he doesn't let that stop him. He also had us cracking up as he now puts his head under the water to look for stuff. It looks so funny!

"One small step." - A creative writing prompt.

Photo by jlwcairo on Flickr.
Silvery flakes drifted down, glittering in the bright light of the harvest moon. The blackbird perched itself upon a high branch of a snow laden Fir tree. A light dust of sparkling snow lept from the top as the fluttering wings of the blackbird hovered to make it's landing. Julie tightened her wool knit scarf as she looked up at the crisp winter sky, gazing upon the brilliant pale moon. She extended her arms out into the vast distance. Closing one eye, she cupped her hands around the moon. Got you! She laughed as she imagined removing the moon from the star drenched sky and placing it into her pocket. How selfish of her to be able to keep the luminous globe all to herself. No, the moon was meant to be shared and admired from afar. She had always been enchanted by the moon and the romance that seemed to orbit it. For a brief moment, she wondered if one were to capture the moon, could one extract the romantic energy stored in it's bright luminescence. She of course wasn't mad, she knew that the moon was nothing more than a weightless mass of rock with a flag and a set of footprints, but that didn't keep her from imagining all the same. Dropping her arms to her sides she felt the bitter blast of wind upon her nose and cheeks signalling her time to start home. She turned, leaving a fresh shoe impression in the snow with every crunching step. One small step for Julie, one giant leap towards a warm bed.

Creative Writing Prompt #9: Silvery flakes drifted down, glittering in the bright light of the harvest moon. The blackbird...

LB #1: "Apollo, Sparkpeople, Gardening & Crochet."

We added a new member to our little family last week. His name is Apollo & he is a one year old Orange Tabby. He is such an amazing little furball & we already love him to pieces. With each passing day Kora seems to be letting her guard down & she actually seems to be getting along with him. Apollo is still a little shy around Odin & Loki, but I believe that in time they will all be best buddies, just like Kora is now. So now we have Loki, Odin, Kora, Apollo & our turtle Kirby. Talk about a full house. ^_^ I wouldn't trade them for the world. They make my life complete.

CWP #34: "The Clock Winked"

The clock winked. The barista walked over to the pretty young woman with the crimson hair. He stared for a moment as her hair seemed to glow as if it were made of thin lines of burning embers. Thinking about how rude he must be to stare, he quickly glanced down at the empty coffee mug with the faint lipstick smudge around the rim. She was dressed quite beautifully, a bit overdressed for the laid back atmosphere of the coffee house. She must have been waiting for someone. Her simple black dress hugged the curves of her body, the modesty of the neckline made it all more appealing to him. A light lace shawl was placed beside her, her only companion in the large empty booth. Suddenly he was aware of just how long he had been silently standing there.

CWP #216 - "Alone."

The roar of the buzz saw was followed with an echoing crash, leaving me standing tall and alone, amidst a grave yard of century long companions. Day by day they come and remove the remains of my fellow compatriots piece  by piece. I wonder how long I have left before they come to remove my limbs. I'm morbidly curious what will be made of me and if I will bring happiness to others. The spectacular view that I once shared seems to have changed drastically and knowing that I am the last of my kind to partake of it, makes it all the more special. I have seen this landscape change in so many ways just as it will continue while I am gone. I have seen the rivers run dry, only to replenish with the first rain of spring. I have seen these mountains blanketed with a brilliant white sheet of snow as well as an assortment of colorful botanic masterpieces. I may have never gone anywhere in my long solitary life, but I have seen things that you nor any other will ever see. I see that my day has come, for you have harvested every splinter from my fallen brothers. You look up at me, as you prepare your tools for my removal. No tears for me to shed, no pleas to be said, I am sure neither would result in absolution. I reach for the sky and absorb the view one last time as I hear you yell... timber!
Creative Writing Prompt  #216: Write from the point of view of the last standing tree in a forest.
